The Kalgoorlie Nickel Project – Goongarrie Hub is an asset of Kalgoorlie Nickel Pty Ltd., which will ultimately be a 50:50 Joint Venture between Ardea Resources Ltd and the Japanese Consortium, comprising Sumitomo Metal Mining Co., Ltd and Mitsubishi Corporation. The KNP-Goongarrie project is well situated near the city of Kalgoorlie. The city of 30,000 residents is a bustling centre for mining and resources in the Goldfields–Esperance region of Western Australia. Located 595 km east-northeast of Perth at the end of the Great Eastern Highway it is sometimes referred to as Kalgoorlie–Boulder, as the surrounding urban area includes the historic townsite of Boulder
